Rapper Boy

My parents are a creative bunch indeed! My Dad says that he has been struggling for months to find an “appropriate” for me. He wanted it to be unique and interesting and rather international. It turned out to be a mix of my Dad’s and my Mom’s name.

In Mexico I had various names. I was Junam, the Junam Bomber, Uldarico Fidenzio (the first part courtesy of my auntie Paula), El Cabroncito, Papacito, Chiquito, Salchichita, Chachabel (based on a saint), El Chico Rico, el Chamaco.

Then when we came to Canada, it was Atom Bomber (not in use any more for political reasons), Pakura (this one only when I’m well behaved), Khoshquele Khoshquelam, Chekhabarehte, El Cocinero, Juna-delam, El Cachonero, Colita, El Calabaceiro, El Cundillero, El Orejotas, el Codon (opposite of Pakura when I am fussy or demanding).

Based on the photo I could also be Rapper G, or el rapero.

Me and my watermelon

I have recently found a taste for watermelons. I really like them. My parents say that it’s good for my digestion because I haven’t been the most regular kind of babies.

This particluar watermelon is big and I did ride it for a while and tried to kick it like a soccer ball. But the skin is so thick that even if I had teeth I could not bite through it!

My Library Mother Goose Series

Where’s Waldo? Try spotting me in this interactive game and song.This has been one of my first encounters with other babies and also with songs and rhymes for babies like me. It was really great fun!

At first I was only observing. The two ladies at the library were very nice and patient with us. One of them called me Mr. Serious because I had a serious look as I was studying the situation.

Then once I got more used to it I ended up participating a little too and when the Mother Goose series ended I felt sad. But my parents say that the classes will start again in the fall. I am so looking forward to them!

I'm on a plane and can't complain!

My parents were worried that I’d make their flight painful and difficult. They had no idea how I would react up there in the air floating in a confined space.

And guess what? I simply loved it! It was a marvelous and fun experience. I was so thrilled that I even got the attention of the stewardesses who kindly brought me many gifts and one of them actually sang to me.

I will never forget this plane ride and the only thing that comes remotely close to such an experience for me would be riding an elevator.

Chicks Dig Me

This is my last day in Morelia at the Plaza de Armas Square. My parents have decided to take me to new places and I am quite excited about the whole deal. It is just before my very first flight and they, including me actually, have no idea how I will react to being on air for several hours straight.

And I am also about to meet family, my grandparents, my uncles and lots of my Dad’s friends for the first time! How do I feel today? A bit confused, but also thrilled and excited about what is to come. I really want to see my grandmother whom I vaguely remember when I was just a newborn. But I have heard her voice many times over the phone and would love to see her in person!

I know that I was born to be a model. Or else a rock star. I really enjoy posing for the camera and always try to look my best; you know, I want to find the best angle.

Apart from a superstar I am also considered an “official person” who will take his first international trip in a little more than a month because now I have my very own passport. This photo above unfortunately was rejected by the Mexican authorities for some reason. I have another one for the passport and since I cannot sign yet, I left my fingerprints on my first official document.

Anyhow, I want all babies out there to know that you look perfectly fine the way you are and that you should always demand your rights to constant milk, cuddles, kisses and outings in the park. And with a passport in your pocket, you are even free to travel all across the world (though I have been told that for now you still need to be accompanied by an adult and that some countries ask you for something called visas).

I am so glad that my parents have discovered this playground for me! I only wish they took me there every day instead of only once a week! Anyway, when I am old enough to walk, I will go there by myself whenever I want to.

It’s a great place because especially on the weekends it’s full of kids of all ages running around and playing. For now, I have to be content just watching them but I’d love to join them sometime soon.

I am happy they have these special swings for babies like me, and I really enjoy it. Actually, my parents do all these funny sounds and gestures so that I have even more fun. I can’t wait and am conting the days until we get to go to the park again!

Me and my ex-pacifier

This picture is valid no more! I have decided to renounce all pacifying activity. Why? Because I think I have reached a maturity level where such childish behaviors are not tolerated any more.

They simply aren’t enough to soothe me although according to my father’s accounts he has been using them until the age of twenty-one. (But I have learnt to be more careful and not to believe everything that my Dad says!) Anyhow these days I engage in eating hands and pineapple instead.

Thinking about the future

So yes, it is true … I am four months young  now! It’s the third of  a year, a semester for a university student and I am only eight months away from my first birthday. (Actually it should be  the second birthday, since the first one is the day I was born on. But I guess adults do their counting differently).

I’m very much looking forward to be able to start walking on my own two feet. I can sit more or less upright these days. And I play with certain objects. I like to touch things that feel soft or that are really shiny. Things and objects catch my attention more than before though some things move suddenly and for no reason like branches on a tree and they sometimes scare me.

But apart from that I have learnt over these four crucial months to say more words and to  smile more. I am also beginning to understand my parents a little more, or is it that they understand me better? Well, communication I am told is difficult no matter what your age is!

Ay, ay Captain!

This is what my parents sometimes call me, Mr. Ah-gooh. I guess it was based on my first words or sounds that came out of my mouth. What they don’t know is that we babies still cannot control our pronunciation too good.

What I meant to say was this: I am the wild pirate of the seas and am looking for the treasure hidden deep somewhere in the apartment. And, arg, I will find it soon enough once I know how to crawl. For now, I have to be satisfied with sustaining my head and occasionally sitting upright. But you just wait and see, Captain Sparrow!
